Our Commitment
Our pledge to Norway's nature, culture and communities.
Funcovemygrov honours Norway's pristine landscapes, communities and traditions. We believe true luxury cannot exist apart from the natural world or the heritage of the people who shape it. Our curation philosophy is therefore rooted in sustainable luxury — refined hospitality that respects nature, local culture, animal welfare and personal well-being.
From the moment a guest reaches out to our concierge team to the final farewell at a fjord-side suite, every detail of the Funcovemygrov experience is designed to leave a lighter footprint and a deeper appreciation for Norway.
We feature partner hotels that demonstrate measurable commitments to environmental responsibility — including renewable energy sourcing, water conservation systems, advanced waste reduction, plastic-free initiatives and conscientious sourcing of food, textiles and building materials. Many of our partner properties hold internationally recognised sustainability certifications such as Green Key, Nordic Swan Ecolabel or ISO 14001.
We actively review each partnership annually and prioritise those properties that continue to invest in greener operations, lower-emission technologies and transparent sustainability reporting.
Norway's fjords, mountains, glaciers and Arctic regions are irreplaceable natural treasures. We promote low-impact experiences, encourage adherence to local conservation guidelines and the right to roam ("allemannsretten") in its responsible spirit — leaving no trace, respecting wildlife and following marked trails. Our concierge team briefs guests on respectful behaviour in protected areas and national parks.
We discourage activities that disturb wildlife, damage fragile ecosystems or contribute to over-tourism in vulnerable destinations. Where possible, we direct guests towards lesser-known but equally cinematic alternatives.
We recognise that long-haul travel carries a carbon cost. We encourage guests to consider longer, slower stays rather than frequent short trips, to choose direct flights when possible, and to participate in carbon-offset programs offered by reputable certified providers. Many of our partner properties operate fully electric vehicle transfers and contribute to reforestation and peatland restoration projects across Norway.
Our curated experiences celebrate Norwegian craftsmanship, gastronomy and heritage, supporting local communities throughout the country. Wherever possible, we feature locally owned restaurants, artisan workshops, family-run excursion operators and small-batch producers — from Arctic cheesemakers to Hardanger textile weavers.
By directing guest spending toward these communities, we help sustain Norwegian traditions and ensure that tourism revenues remain within the regions that host our travellers.
In Northern Norway and beyond, we honour the indigenous Sámi people, their language, traditions and self-determination. Any Sámi-related cultural experience featured in our itineraries is delivered exclusively by Sámi-owned or Sámi-endorsed operators, ensuring authenticity, dignity and fair economic participation.
We encourage slow, mindful travel — extended stays of four nights or more, thoughtful itineraries, restorative wellness rituals and deep engagement with the Nordic experience. Rather than encouraging guests to "see everything", we invite them to experience fewer places with greater depth and presence.
Where casino facilities are present at our featured hotels, we encourage moderation and responsible leisure as part of a balanced luxury experience. Casino activities should never compromise personal well-being or financial stability. We support our partner properties in promoting responsible gaming guidelines, age verification and access to support resources for any guest who may need assistance.
We strictly decline to feature any experience that exploits, harms or distresses animals. Wildlife encounters featured by our concierge — including aurora-region reindeer experiences, whale-watching excursions and Arctic safaris — are arranged exclusively with operators that follow ethical wildlife guidelines, maintain respectful viewing distances and contribute to conservation research.
Luxury should be welcoming. We work with our partner hotels to identify properties that offer accessible suites, mobility-friendly spa facilities and inclusive service for guests of all backgrounds, abilities, identities and life stages. Our concierge team is committed to discussing accessibility needs in confidence and curating tailored journeys accordingly.
We partner only with properties that uphold Norway's exemplary labour standards — fair wages, safe working conditions, diversity in hiring and ongoing professional development for staff. The human craft behind a refined stay is as essential as the architecture and the view.
Pre-arrival materials and concierge briefings include guidance on respectful behaviour, local etiquette, environmental considerations and cultural sensitivities. We believe informed guests are responsible guests, and that small acts of awareness collectively shape the future of Norwegian tourism.
We refine our responsible tourism commitments annually in partnership with our hospitality partners, environmental advisors and the travellers we serve. We welcome feedback and ideas from guests who share our vision for a more sustainable and meaningful luxury experience.
